The project will work closely with the respective local governments, public schools and relevant stakeholders to enable integration of electric cooking in school kitchens. High stakeholder engagement is crucial in instances where technologies are new, the perception of higher cooking costs on electricity still persists, the essentiality of flame visibility during cooking, and taste variability of food cooked in fire compared to other fuels. Awareness programs and live demonstrations will ensure hands-on experience and orientation on these electric cooking technologies.

The project is expected to realize adoption of electric cooking in 80 schools their mid-day meal program promoted by the Government of Nepal, sensitizing around 4000 number of students on electric cooking throughout the project. It is expected that, through the provision of electric cooking in the school kitchen to improve access to affordable, nutritious and healthy diets, the health and well-being of school staff and students are improved ultimately creating a positive enabling learning environment for improved education in the rural areas of Nepal.
