Mr. Murali Prasad Sharma

- Chairperson

Mr. Murali Prasad Sharma is an expert in legal aspect for hydropower development, environment, road management, water supply, irrigation, etc. with Masters in Commerce and Bachelors in Law. He has had previous working experiences as government officer in Ministry of Law and Ministry of Finance and currently working as legal advisor to Himal Hydro and General Construction, Chilime Hydropower Company Limited, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited, etc. He also has had previous working experiences in AEPC, ADB, Melamchi Diversion Scheme, Binnies & Themes Water, etc.


Mr. Shiva Ram Pradhan


Mr. Shiva Ram Pradhan is a member of executive committee of PEEDA, a retired  Major General of Nepal Army with 37 years of military service with M.Sc. in Defence & Strategic Studies from Quaid -E-Azam University in Pakistan. He has had a highly distinguished career and served as Western Division Commander, Director General of Military Operation and Co-coordinator of National Security Council Secretariat. He was  technical adviser to the government talk team during government-maoist peace talks, and was later on appointed Vice Chairman of the Joint Monitoring Coordination Committee. He has also served as  member of UN force in Croatia & Lebanon. He is currently Executive Director of Nepal Institute for Strategic Studies, Executive member of National Senior Citizen Federation of Nepal and director of National Hydro Power Company.


Mr. Govinda Prasad Devkota

- Secretary

Mr. Govinda Prasad Devkota is serving as Secretary of PEEDA, an expert in the renewable energy technology in general and biogas in particular. He holds Master degree in Economics, and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science & Technology from the Netherland. He has more than 30 years of experience in this sector and presently he is working as freelance consultant and had already worked for  several organisations such as UNDP, ADB Philippines, ICRC Manila through Practical Action UK, GIZ Nepal, Practical Action Nepal, Kingdom Bio energy UK, Palangthai Bangkok, Pioneer Carbon UK, Fullwell Mill Ltd. UK, SNV, AEPC and many national organisations.

He has published and authored four books on biogas, micro-hydro and renewable energy technology and more than seven dozens of RET related articles in English as well as in Nepali (both technical and management) in several national and international journals, magazines, reports and seminar proceedings. He was awarded Deependra Science and Technology Youth Award – 1985 from NAST and National Talent Award – 2001 from Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation and honoured by NBPA for his outstanding works on renewable energy technology especially biogas.


Ms. Minoo Piya Amatya

- Joint Secretary

Ms. Minoo Piya Amatya is acting as joint secretary of PEEDA. She has experiences of working in several NGOs, INGOs, Co-operatives and University as Sociologist, Researcher, lecturer, Consultant, Social Scientist and Socio-economist. Her qualification is M.A. in Sociology from JNU, India B.Ed from Tribhuwan University, MBA from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India and PGDP in Human Resource Management. She is a promoter, Director and leading personality of several private and public companies. She is involved in few Social organizations as a social worker too.


Ms. Gosai KC Bhandari

- Treasurer
Ms. Gosai KC Bhandari

Ms. Gosai KC Bhandari is the treasurer of PEEDA. She has worked as Deputy Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority. She is an expert in social and environment management resettlement with dual Masters in Humanities & Social Science and Masters in Education, both from Tribhuvan University. She has experience of working with different governmental departments, hydropower projects and hydroelectric projects in senior level positions. She has published articles on Bidhut and Byabasthapan. She is associated with different associations like Management Association of Nepal, National Environmental Impact Assessment Association of Nepal, Administrative Staff College of India and International Association for Electricity Generation Transmission & Distribution (Afro- Asian Region) India. She has also received the honorary award “Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 4th Class”.


Mr. Shiva Kumar Sharma

Mr Shiva Kumar Sharma is the founding member of PEEDA. He completed his Masters Degree in Engineering from People's Friendship University Moscow in 1981. The same year, upon return to Nepal, he joined Himal Hydro and General Construction Ltd and worked in this Company for thirty two years, the last eighteen years as the General Manager of the Company. Mr Sharma completed one year post graduation diploma course in hydro power development from Trondheim University Norway (1985-86). Mr Sharma presently works as Managing Director of South Asian Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, a company devoted to  hydro power construction and development. He is past president of Nepal Norway Alumni Association and past vice president of Nepal Hydro Power Association. He has served and has been serving as Board Director in various organizations. He has presented and published many papers related to Hydro Power and Tunneling both nationally and Internationally.


Ms. Keshari Bajracharya

Ms. Keshari Bajracharya holds M. Sc. Degree in Chemistry from TU, Nepal and M.S. degree in Soil & Environment from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, USA having expertise in monitoring and evaluation practices of soil, water and minerals using various methods. She brings more than 30 years of her experience in PEEDA in the field of soil and water related problems including monitoring and analyzing samples of various parts of Nepal. She has worked as chemist in Department of Mines & Geology, as soil and water chemist in Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management and as senior divisional chemist in Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. She has presented papers in the field of soil and water as well as participated in national and international training/conferences.


Ms. Kalpana Pradhan


Ms. Kalpana Pradhan holds a Masters in Sociology from Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus and Masters in Business Administration from University Campus, Kirtipur, TU having expertise in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). She brings more than 15 years of her experience in PEEDA in the field of GESI and community development. She has been associated with different organizations like ITECO Engineering Ltd. Switzerland, JICA, Poverty Alleviation Fund, DRILP, World Education – Nepal with different roles and responsibilities with different capacities. She has actively participated in trainings, workshops and seminars related with Gender Mainstreaming and Social Inclusion, Gender Mainstreaming in Project and Programs, Project Formulation and Management, Applied Anthropology in Development Processes, Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation and many others. She is also an active member of professional associations such as Parbat Conservation Association, Parbat, Women Environment Group, Kupondole, Rotary Club of Patan, Lalitpur and Society for International Development, Rome, Italy.


Mr. Gaurav Dahal

Mr. Gaurav Dahal is a member of executive committee of PEEDA. He brings along with him 12 years of expertise in climate and energy issues, particularly in decentralized renewable energy, low carbon programs and energy access. He also has hands-on experience on working at global policy, national and implementation levels with multidisciplinary teams in Development organizations, UN, Governments, INGOs and CSOs.  His specialty lies in developing and managing energy and climate change projects at international, regional, national and implementation level, promotion and working with renewable energy technologies, project cycle management, marketing and strategic management, organizational development, results-based management, research and analysis and multi-party partnership buildings. He holds a MBA degree from Kathmandu University School of Management along with Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Silchar, India.


Mr. Suman Basnet

Mr. Suman Basnet is a renewable energy and management professional with over 30 years' experience in the development and private sectors. He has proven record of participatory, results-oriented managerial leadership and consultancy services and is involved in the formulation and implementation of many innovative approaches. He is an excellent writer, communicator, facilitator, a team player and experienced in working in a cross cultural environment. He is working as Sustainable Energy Coordinator/SEforALL National Advisor for UNDP, Nepal since April 2013. Moreover, he is also working as Independent Renewable Energy and Management Consultant since 2012. He had worked for several organizations such as SN Power Holding Singapore Pvt. Ltd, Winrock International, Butwal Power Company Limited, Interkraft Nepal A.S., ECG Consulting Group and United Nations Development Programme. He holds Master degree in Business Administration with concentration in technological entrepreneurship from USA, Graduate Diploma in Electrical Power Distribution Systems from Norway and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from India. He was awarded Fulbright Scholarship, Founders Award of Excellence and also the Delmar W. Karger Award in Management and Norwegian Government (NORAD) Fellowship.

Puspa Raj Bhattarai


Puspa Raj Bhattarai is a member of executive committee of PEEDA. He holds a Masters degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Patan Multiple College having involvement in nature conservation and understanding of indigenous knowledge for the last 18 years. Currently, he is working in Nepal Rural Development Centre (NRDC) as 3R expert. There he organizes and implements the public awareness campaign for important solid wastage management, encourage household level segregation of wastage and composting, ensure that community base activities are integrated into the overall solid wastage management practices and co-ordinate with community awareness mobilization, people’s participation and capacity building activities as related to solid wastage management. As well as he is also working at Sugam Engineering and Services Pvt. Ltd. As a sales director, he has worked as a Project Coordinator in Hulas Steel Industries Limited for around 12 years and as a Finance Director in Ram Metal Workshop and Steelmate Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd for the last 10 years. He has worked in many organizations such as B.K. Agrawal & Co., Music Nepal Pvt. Ltd., Nepal Times Daily News Paper in different roles.
