Climate action cannot be done in silos. While the impacts of climate change may differ across regions and communities, the urgency to respond remains universal. Across Nepal, communities are already experiencing changing rainfall patterns, increasing incidence of floods and landslides, and other climate-induced challenges that directly affect communities and its development.

Recognizing the reality, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working at the grassroots level play a critical role in bridging climate knowledge with community action. However, responding effectively to climate challenges requires not only commitment but also stronger tools, practical skills, and a deeper understanding of climate science and inclusive development approaches.

With this objective, People, Energy & Environment Development Association (PEEDA) organized a capacity building training on “Foundational Knowledge on Climate Change and Gender Dimensions” under the Regional Enhancement for Climate Adaptation and Partnership (RECAP) Project. The training was held from 18 – 21 February 2026 in Lumbini, bringing together 29 participants representing nine CSOs, local government and community groups.

The training aimed to deepen participant’s understanding of climate change and enhance their capacity to translate knowledge into action at the community level while integrating gender perspectives in climate action. Interactive approaches such as group discussions, reflection sessions, and ClimateGallery helped simplify complex concepts and encouraged participants to connect climate knowledge with their field experiences.

Ultimately, the training reinforced a crucial idea that meaningful climate action emerges when communities are placed at the center of climate responses.
