People, Energy & Environment Development Association (PEEDA) is a Nepali non-governmental organization that strives to reduce poverty through socially responsible and environmentally sustainable use of Nepal’s renewable energy resources. Its mission revolves around empowering rural communities; particularly the poor by promoting institutional development, localization of climate actions, renewable energy access, technology transfer, policy advocacy, and grassroots participation in energy and environment programmes.
At present, the organization is actively engaged in addressing climate change issues through a range of projects focused on awareness raising, and promoting adaptation and mitigation measures across different parts of Nepal. It delivers capacity-building training on climate change impacts, adaptation strategies, and mitigation efforts at both community and municipal levels. The organization aims to enhance public understanding of climate science, its impacts, and Nepal’s adaptation and mitigation practices by drawing lessons from both national and international experiences. To strengthen documentation and awareness on climate change impacts, adaptation, and mitigation efforts throughout Nepal, this internship is designed to collect stories, case examples, and evidence-based information from credible sources.
Objective of the Internship Assignment
The main objective of the internship is to support the organization in collecting, documenting, and organizing information and stories related to:
- Climate change impacts in different sectors and regions of Nepal including the losses and damages observed across communities;
- Ongoing adaptation and mitigation measures being implemented at local and national levels
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
The intern will be responsible to:
- Review secondary literature including government policy documents, reports, journals, magazines, and news portals (national and international) related to climate change impact in Nepal.
- Collect and compile stories, photos, and cases showing the impact of climate change (floods, drought, landslides, crop loss, migration, loss of human lives etc.).
- Document adaptation and mitigation measures practiced by communities, local governments, and national programs.
- Support communication and awareness materials preparation (articles, infographics, photo stories).
- Coordinate with project team members for data validation and presentation of findings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree (or ongoing) in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, or related fields.
- Strong interest and understanding of climate change issues in Nepal.
- Good skills in desk research, data compilation, and report writing.
- Ability to summarize complex information into concise and readable content.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, Design tools, and basic data organization tools.
- Strong communication and analytical skills in both English and Nepali.
Duration and Working Modality
- Duration: The assignment will be maximum of 3 months
- Work modality: The intern will work under the direct supervision of Program Manager. Regular progress updates will be shared weekly
