The project aims to demonstrate effective management of landslides via the use of local resources, application of indigenous knowledge and adoption of Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) and bio-engineering techniques. Through this initiative, the project aims to strengthen capacities of local government and communities to implement social innovations and mobilize alternative resources to climate adaptation.

The anticipated outcomes of the project are:
Outcome 1: Skills of local communities and the local government to implement effective management of vulnerable sloping land is improved.
Outcome 2: Capacity of local governments on Disaster Risk Management Plans is strengthened

Project Updates:

PEEDA has supported a community of 8 households in providing site solutions for landslide management via the application of bioengineering techniques on landslide management structures and delivering slope agriculture land technology (SALT) trainings held on August 21-22, 2024, attended by around 50 community people in Jhyaku, Gaurishankar Rural Municipality, Dolakha. The training also focussed on hedge rows, crib walls, palisades and brush layering.
