Ms. Amrita Pokharel had earned two graduate degrees (primary in Environmental Science with specialization in Climate Change and another in Political science from Tribhuwan University). She joined PEEDA as a Climate Change Expert from January 2023. She is a trainer and practitioner in the field of Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction, and its research and assessments. She has around 10 years of professional experience in developmental sector including Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. She is a Master Trainer for DRM Localization Manual developed by MoFAGA and had also drafted ToT manual on “Resilient and Sustainable Cities” for Local government developed by MuAN. She was also a part of the study team during ‘Needs and Capacity Assessment of Fourteen Rural and Urban Municipalities on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Nepal’ conducted by IOM in 2019 and Rapid Environmental Assessment conducted by the Government of Nepal as a part of PDNA of Nepal Earthquake, 2015. During the course of her professional journey, she has gained profound knowledge and experience in preparing different DRR/CCA related plans (like LDCRP, LAPA. LDRMP, DPRP, etc.) and policies.

Similarly, she has a good coordination/communication and strong organizational skills, time and team-management skills in order to achieve the assigned tasks and successful implementation of the project. She is well experienced in field-based projects, facilitating training, conducting different research surveys, monitoring and evaluation; quality control of the work, HR mobilization and other managerial level works. She has worked in different natured projects from UN agencies, donor funded to government projects along with community-based projects in multinational/International organizations till date.
