He began his career at Butwal Power Company Ltd. (1992–1998), where he worked across multiple finance functions including cashier, bookkeeper, and accountant for various projects. He later served as Administrative Assistant in the UNDP assisted LGP project (1998–2000), focusing on accounting and financial management. His expertise expanded further during his tenure as Account Officer in the Bagmati Watershed Project (EU) (2001–2002), and subsequently at Gurkha Enterprises, UK (2003–2007), where he managed finances for diverse businesses including hotels, restaurants, and trading ventures. In Nepal’s financial sector, Mr. Poudel held directorial positions at Reliable Finance Ltd. (2008–2009) and has since served on the boards of several development banks, including Manakamana Development Bank, Yeti Development Bank, Siddhartha Development Bank, and Mahalaxmi Development Bank Ltd.
