Climate Change Adaptation Partners Workshop, BftW

Last week from 17th to 21th April 2017, Biraj Gautam (CEO) and Tapendra Chand (Project Officer) of PEEDA participated in the "Climate Change Adaptation Partners Workshop organized by Bread for the World (BftW) at Park Village Hotel, Kathmandu. The representative of different organizations such as ICIMOD, SAHAS-Nepal, RRN, UMN, Li-Bird, PEEDA from Nepal, LEDARS, CCDB, CDP, NABOLOK from Bangladesh, LAYA, IIRD, Pipal Tree, CREATE/THANAL from India and one participant each from Indonesia and Pakistan participated in the workshop. The Forum will be a marketplace that brokers new partnerships and ideas, spurs investment and drives action towards securing clean, affordable energy for all. Over three days (3-5 April, 2017), the forum will assess the latest data towards progress on Sustainable Development Goal 7 and highlight success stories from its Partners from across the globe. Recruitment of Social Mobilizer

PEEDA has recruited four social mobilizer for the project namely "Climate Resilient Communities and Sustainable Livelihood Initiatives for Pro-Poor of Dolakha District of Nepal". Furthermore, PEEDA has successfully completed  orientation and training program for the social mobilizers from 20th to 24th September 2016.

Support to the Earthquake Affected Families of Nepal

PEEDA, in coordination with SAHAS- Nepal and support from Bread for the World-Germany distributed 600 Tarpaulins to the earthquake affected families at Thakle, Manebhanjyang, Toksel and Madhavpur VDCs of Okhaldhunga district on 30 May 2015. Tarpaulins were distributed at the request of DDC- Okhaldhunga and other stakeholders. A very special thanks goes to Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police for their management and support for this endeavor. Also, the efforts of VDC Secretaries are highly appreciated. Formation of Nepal Bioenergy Society (NBES)

After almost 9 years of working experience in the field of Biofuel, PEEDA realized that the achievement achieved so far needs to be materialized and institutionalized for sustainable development of bioenergy. In the present context, Nepal is totally dependent upon fossil fuels and additionally suffers from scarcity of such fuels periodically.
