Mr. Govind Prasad Devkota

- Chairperson

Mr. Devkota has over 35 years of professional experiences in renewable energy technology in general and biogas in particular. The key areas of his involvement include capacity development, awareness creation, management and research and development. He has completed numerous feasibility studies, monitoring and evaluations and researches, market mapping, inventory studies, project planning, management and implementation. He has published seven books and sixty six articles on RETs nationally and internationally. Likewise, he was involved in forty consultancies both at national and international level and participated in 21 national and international seminars and workshops. Mr. Devkota has Bachelor degree in Science, Master degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University and Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Science and Technology from IHE Delft, the Netherlands. 

He was involved as a member in the development of Master Plan of Rastrapati Chure Terai Madesh Conservation Project focusing on renewable energy. As a team member he has dveloped programme on Scaling up Mini and Micro Renewable Energy Initiatives (SREP) for the Government of Nepal. He also has experiences of working internationally that include “Biogas Digester Assessments in places of detentions in the Philippines” for ICRC, Asia biogas programme Evaluation (Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Bangladesh) for SNV, training and installation of biogas plants in Myanmar, Burkina Faso and Gambia. He was awarded Deependra Science and Technology Youth Award in 1985 from NAST and National Talent Award in 2001 from Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation for his outstanding work in the field of biogas and other renewable energy technologies.  

Mr. Shiva Ram Pradhan

- Immediate Past Chairperson
Mr. Shiva Ram Pradhan is the Immediate Past Chairperson of PEEDA, a retired Major General of the Nepal Army with 37 years of military service with an M.Sc. in Defence and Strategic Studies from Quaid -E-Azam University in Pakistan. He has had a highly distinguished career and served as Western Division Commander, Director General of Military Operation, and Co-Coordinator of the National Security Council Secretariat. He was the technical adviser to the government talk team during Government-Maoist peace talks and was later appointed Vice Chairman of the Joint Monitoring Coordination Committee. He commanded a battalion in has also served as a member of UN forces in Croatia & has also served as a member of UN forces in Lebanon. He is currently a Director of Lower Erkhuwa Hydro Power Company Limited.

Mr. Shiva Kumar Sharma

- Vice - Chairperson
Mr. Shiva Kumar Sharma is one of the founding members of PEEDA. He completed his Masters Degree in Engineering from People's Friendship University Moscow in 1981. The same year, upon return to Nepal, he joined Himal Hydro and General Construction Ltd and worked in this Company for 32 years, the last 18 years as the General Manager of the Company. Mr. Sharma completed one year post graduation diploma course in hydropower development from Trondheim University Norway (1985-86). Mr. Sharma presently works as Managing Director of South Asian Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, a company devoted to hydropower construction and development. He is the past president of Nepal Norway Alumni Association and the past vice president of Nepal Hydro Power Association. He has served and has been serving as Board Director in various organizations. He has presented and published many papers related to Hydro Power and Tunneling both nationally and Internationally.

Ms. Kalpana Pradhan

- Secretary
Ms. Kalpana Pradhan holds a Masters in Sociology from Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus and Masters in Business Administration from University Campus, Kirtipur, TU having expertise in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). She brings more than 15 years of her experience in PEEDA in the field of GESI and community development. She has been associated with different organizations like ITECO Engineering Ltd. Switzerland, JICA, Poverty Alleviation Fund, DRILP, World Education – Nepal with different roles and responsibilities with different capacities. She has actively participated in trainings, workshops and seminars related with Gender Mainstreaming and Social Inclusion, Gender Mainstreaming in Project and Programs, Project Formulation and Management, Applied Anthropology in Development Processes, Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation and many others. She is also an active member of professional associations such as Parbat Conservation Association, Parbat, Women Environment Group, Kupondole, Rotary Club of Patan, Lalitpur and Society for International Development, Rome, Italy.

Mr. Rupendra Poudel

- Treasurer
Mr. Rupendra Poudel is currently the Treasurer at PEEDA. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and has more than 3 decades of working experience in the finance, accounts and administration domain. He has worked at organizations like Butwal Power Company Limited, LGP under UNDP assisted project, Bagmati Watershed Project (EU) and Gurkha Enterprises Multinational Company in the UK. He is also the Director at Mahalaxmi Development Bank Limited.

Mr. Puspa Raj Bhattarai

- Joint Secretary
Mr. Puspa Raj Bhattarai is currently the joint secretary of PEEDA. He holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Patan Multiple College and has been involved in nature conservation and understanding indigenous knowledge for the last 18 years. He has worked at the Nepal Rural Development Center (NRDC) as a 3R expert. There, he organizes and implements the public awareness campaign for important solid waste management, encourages household-level segregation of waste and composting, ensures that community-based activities are integrated into the overall solid waste management practices, and coordinates community awareness mobilization, people’s participation, and capacity-building activities as related to solid waste management. As well, he is also working at Sugam Engineering and Services Pvt. Ltd. as a director. He has worked as a project coordinator at Hulas Steel Industries Limited for around 12 years and as a finance director at Ram Metal Workshop and Steelmate Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd. for the last 10 years. He has worked in many organizations, including Music Nepal Pvt. Ltd. and Nepal Times Daily News Paper, in different roles.

Mr. Murali Prasad Sharma

Mr. Murali Prasad Sharma is an legal expert in the field of hydropower development, environment, water resources sector etc., with degree of Master of Commerce and Bachelor of Law. He has previous working experience with the government for a period of 23 years different positions in the Ministry of Law and under Finance Ministry. He is currently a legal advisor to various companies specifically related to hydropower development including, Chilime Hydropower Company Limited, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited, Maddhya iddle Bhotekoshi and Sanjen Jalabidyut Company. He is also the life member of Nepal Council of Arbitration and an arbitration panelist. He had also served as legal expert to ADB, Melamchi Diversion Scheme in drinking water sector. He had also served Himal Hydro and General Construction Ltd. and Butwal Power Company Limited for long time as a retainer lawyer. His expertise in development laws, management and financial sector has added value in overall management of any organization.

Ms. Tara Pradhan

Mrs. Tara Pradhan is currently one of the Exective Members of PEEDA since 2020. She is also the founding member and life member of Bandipur Social Development Committee till date. In addition, she is also serving as the board member of Innerwheel Club of Patan since 2019. She has acted as the President of Butwal Lioness Club from1988 to 1989. She is a competent and skilled women in various sectors of leadership, strategic communication, management and social service.

Mr. Gaurav Dahal

Gaurav Dahal is an energy expert. He has more than 15 years of experience working with climate and energy challenges at both the policy and implementation levels. He has experience working with national and international organizations on renewable energy issues (Government of Nepal, PEEDA, UNOPS, UNDP, Government of Uganda, SE4ALL, WWF International, and ECF/TARA Foundation). His specialty is renewable energy, with a focus on knowledge transfer, worldwide business expansion, project design, and project financing. He also has experience in developing and marketing low-carbon and alternative energy solutions. He has great experience developing, managing, and implementing sustainable renewable energy projects, particularly in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. He is also skilled in contract management, results-based management, donor relations, donor compliance, and the research and development of renewable energy technology. He holds an MBA degree from Kathmandu University School of Management in addition to a mechanical engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, India/Silchar.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey

Dr.-Ing. Ramesh Kumar Maskey holds MSc. In Civil-hydropower Engineering from Beylorussian Polytechnic Institute, Beylorussia (1987) and MSc. in Resources Engineering from University of Karlsruhe, Germany (1996), where he taught hydropower and energy technology till 2004. He worked as civil engineer for Arun-III hydroelectric power project in Nepal Electricity Authority till 1994. After completion of his Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering Science from University of Karlsruhe in 2004, he worked as the Executive Director of a private firm in Germany till February 2006. Since March 2006, Dr. Maskey accepted a full professorship of civil engineering at Kathmandu University (KU),and as the head of department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering at KU for more than a decade. His research interest encompasses water resources management, small hydropower, renewable energy technology, distributed power system and hydraulic structures while his field of expertise are Civil Engineering: Hydraulics, Hydropower and Renewable Energy Engineering.

Ms. Anju Shrestha

Ms. Anju Shrestha holds a B.A degree from Padmakanya Campus. She has experience of working in sign graphics, management and polyimage. She has worked as the Financial Manager at Longtail e-media. She was one of the board members and past president at Jaycees. Currently, she is working as the Manager at PASS Pharmacy.

Mr. Muhan Maskey

Mr. Maskey holds Masters of Science in Energy Systems and Management from University of Flensburg, Germany. He has more than 2 decades of working experience in the field of renewable energy planning, implementation and policy level research. Since 2015, he is currently working as the Policy and Institutional Strengthening Expert at the Renewable Energy for Rural Livelihood (RERL) Programme.
