Mr. Kumar Pandey
Kumar Pandey is a Fulbright Scholar with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (2006) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, US. He has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (1991) from Brown University (US). He has more than 30 years of experience in the power industry in Nepal, including engineering, design, construction and operation of power plants. His expertise lies in project identification, project optimization, and project implementation. He is recognized for his knowledge on policies and practices pertaining to hydropower development in Nepal as well as power trading in the region.
He is the Executive Chairman of National Hydro Power Company (NHPC), (www.nhpcl.com), a publicly traded company which is developing numerous other hydro power plants.
He is also Director of Millennium Challenge Account Development Board, Nepal, which is overseeing the implementation of the US Government (MCC) funded US$ 550 million project to construct high voltage transmission lines and maintain roads in Nepal.
Mr. Pandey also serves as Chairman of Martin Chautari, a non-profit, independent research institute in Kathmandu.
