PEEDA recently conducted a one day orientation programme in each of the project site on Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) to the School Management Committee/Parents Teachers Association, Elected representatives and students from class 8-12 in Nilkantheshwor Ma.Vi.,Jugu; Kalidhunga Ma.Vi, Mirge and Baiteshwor Ma.Vi., Namdu, Dolakha from 5-7 February, 2023. Nearly 470 people were sensitized on School based DRR and CCA including their terminologies, Safe School and School Level Disaster Plans.

Street Drama on Climate Change Adaptation, Livelihood Promotion and Nutrition

Raising awareness through observation stimulates mobilization of local resources, action and knowledge. Review and Planning Meeting

A two days review and planning meeting of Climate Change and Livelihood Project was conducted on March 24-25, 2019 that involved central level staffs and social mobilizers. This meeting acted as a platform in which discussions were held on accomplished project activities, knowledge transfer among the project team, strengths and gap identification and ways moving forward to reach desired outcomes.

Workshop on Solar Powered Cold Storage for Small Farmholders

 PEEDA has been working on the implementation of a solar powered cold storage facility that can greatly benefit small farm holders by allowing them to keep agricultural produce fresh for longer using solar energy. This can improve their livelihood and create local employment opportunities, whilst encouraging sustainability, reducing food waste, and increasing the efficiency of food production. With this background, PEEDA has organized a workshop to facilitate the discussion on the utilization of such technologies and for PEEDA to share their experience. Climate Change and Sustainable Livelihood Orientation

People, Energy and Environment Development Association (PEEDA) has successfully conducted the workshop on Climate Change and Sustainable Livelihood in 4 VDCs of Dolakha district. The project activities were carried out in Mirge, Namdu, Jungu and Thulopatal (former) VDCs from 25th October to 1st November 2018. One of the main objectives of the workshop was to prepare Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA), where 88 females were actively participating among 124 total participants.

Assessment of low power electric cooking

Assessment of low power electric cooking in Nepal project has successfully implemented in the Simlee, Rukum. With this pilot project, the benefits and drawbacks of the electric cooking have studied in the rural off-grid communities. Generally, women participation was more active and fuel switching from conventional fuels to modern fuels for cooking will reduce women’s workload, time burden and would improve their health.

Installation of solar powered cold storage

The team of PEEDA, DISAN Enterprises and Mukti Energy successfully installed the solar powered cold storage of 5 metric ton capacity in Ward no. 3 of Baiteshwor Rural Municipality, Dolakha. The villagers and local authority supported the team during the installation. The cold storage will also serve as collection center and would increase the market value of vegetable produced locally by the small farm holders.
